Using YouTube Video Marketing to revolutionise your marketing message
I love using YouTube Video Marketing to promote my business… I’m not the best presenter in the world but have had a little fun putting together a video for my Facebook page which I have included below to show that its worthwhile and to give you a bit of a laugh at my expense! Apparently I blink for an extended period of time… I think I was trying to remember what I wanted to say and was looking for a script on the inside of my eyelids

Video Marketing
If you aren’t using video to promote your business yet, I highly recommend that you get started as soon as possible
because using YouTube to upload your businesses videos is extremely easy and they are extremely powerful when embedded on your website as they can deliver such a strong and interactive message.
Video Marketing is one of the most effective methods of advertising your product or service to your potential customers since virtually everyone has access to a computer these days and quite a few of us are lucky enough to be able to access the internet from phones, TV’s etc. etc. So, there is a big market of consumers out there.
Many people think of YouTube as a place to go and watch ‘Skateboarding Dogs’ or ‘Cats using the Toilet’ but today more businesses are realising that YouTube provides them with an opportunity and in recent years we have seen a proliferation of business related video being uploaded to YouTube and video marketing taking off.
Whatever type of business you have, I’m pretty sure that video marketing in some form would be a valuable tool for you. Just think about this statistic:
- YouTube has more than 2 billion views every single day
- 24 hours of video are uploaded every single minute
- The average person spends 15 minutes a day on YouTube

I think it is fair to assume that the use of video will continue to grow for the foreseeable future and that video marketing is something to be used.
Getting your Video Marketing Message out
There are plenty of ways by which you can get your video marketing message out to the people and keep your business in the mind of your users. YouTube allows you to create your own ‘Channel’ as we have done here. As you can see (If you visited the link) we have branded our YouTube Channel to make it more personal to our business and relate it to our other sites.
By uploading your videos to YouTube, you have the opportunity to insert ‘Keyword Tags’ which help users of YouTube to find your videos via a search.
Don’t be tempted to put ‘Lady Ga Ga’ as one of your tags unless your video is related to ‘Lady Ga Ga’! You will get found out and you will be penalised for misleading keyword tagging! Make sure that the Keyword Tags you select are relevant to your video so that people that find it are interested in what you have to offer.
Using Video on Your Website
A video on your website is extremely engaging and helps you to create a personal connection with your visitor. This engagement enables you to get your visitors to interact with you by asking for feedback or by giving them a call to action.
Video’s also improve the stickability of your website meaning that your visitor is more likely to spend longer on your website… Provided your video message is interesting!
Video Blogging
Videos are excellent things to be embedded in your blog posts as they make it fun for your subscribers and keep them coming back in the future.
Video Training Courses
Training courses can be pretty dull can’t they? But consider providing video training via video… They are much more interesting and gets the message over much more effectively than text and graphic would in a more traditional form of online training
The beauty of video training courses is that they can be used over and over once the training package has been put together.
All of the above uses of Video are not what I would call ‘Direct Full-On Marketing’ opportunities. They are much more subtle but can be even more successful than the hard sell!
Create Brand Awareness through Video Marketing
One other thing to consider before using YouTube… ‘Once you upload content to YouTube, that content is no longer yours!’ So, be selective in what you upload…
With that warning out of the way, I have to say that YouTube is amazing place to create brand awareness through your video marketing efforts. Video captivates your audience and at the same time by streaming videos from your YouTube you also begin to build the credibility of your Channel.
Streaming Video Content from YouTube also saves your bandwidth since the video is being loaded from YouTube! Hey I’m from Yorkshire! Any saving is worth making ![]()
Video Marketing can be done on a shoestring
What’s really cool about Video Marketing is that it can be done on a shoestring budget if you want to just dip your toes in the water. Of course you can pay for more professional work, but the truth is that most households today will have everything they need to get a video produced, uploaded to their YouTube Channel and embedded within their site.
By using a video camera, video editing software that often times comes with you video camera, and your internet connection you are able to create video marketing presentations that will generate more traffic to your website and more interest in you and your business.
Using YouTube
If your appetite has been whetted for producing your own video marketing production, I’ve put together a few things for you to think about so that your foray into video marketing gets the attention of the viewer and guides them to take action:
- Make sure that you video is relevant to your product.
o Do not include useless information
o Do not add fluff to the content
- Keep it simple and to the point
- Include example uses for your product
- Include testimonials from satisfied customers
- Try to look good but don’t take this to extremes
- Think through what you want to say and practice it
o If you can make it witty
o Speak clearly and use plain English (Or whatever language you are using)
o Avoid using jargon
- Be certain that you are conveying the right message to the viewer
- Try to wear a confident smile
- Ensure sound quality is good.
o If a videos soundtrack is poor your video will not be watched to completion.
- Ensure that you have good lighting for the shoot and that your subject is not in shade
o Lighting is important. If your finished video is not clear to the viewer they will lose interest and move on.
- Don’t strive for perfection.
o Your YouTube audience is forgiving, so you don’t have to have the perfect video production.
o That said, you will get better with practice.
When people use YouTube, they are basically searching for information and to be entertained. Because of this I would steer clear of the advertising model made famous on TV, because YouTube’s users will reject it.
Make your video marketing videos different by being informative and by connecting with your viewer.
